Welcome to Fazil Jamali's Online Gallery

Fazil Jamali has surrounded himself with natural beauty all of his life. Nanga Parbat, the Karakoram, the Hindu Kush, and countless nameless villages nestled in the Himalayas. Drawn to the awe inspiring silence, he went deep within himself and expressed his journey through pastel. Fueled by the splendor his eyes could hardly believe, his form of expression diversified to include acrylics, pigmentation on cork, fresco tempera, and pen and ink on cork.

Inspired by the Neo Impressionist master Georges-Pierre Seurat, Fazil developed his own style by incorporating Pointilism in his work. Much like Van Gogh, who also learned and used Pointalism, Fazil shows how the technique gives a depth to stunning landscapes and transports the viewer into the world he creates. Fazil's physical journey continued along orchards, lakes and dusty roads that never end.

These roads never ended, roads that led to the American Southwest: New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and to Virginia.

His spiritual journey progressed from quiet solitude to a dark fiery passion that can be seen in his more recent works. Here he makes an unsubtle connection between his visions of nature and the human psyche. The journey, physical and spiritual, which first found canvas in 1979 continues for Fazil. His hands continue to share his tales.
